As warm Maui days slowly fade into blissful tropical evenings, the Ulalena comes. As much a whisper as a wind, it arrives at the most magical time of day, as if someone has opened a window to another world, allowing a cleansing breeze to wash over the land.
Ulalena is unique to Maui, and so is the theatrical experience it inspired. Presented in a multi-million dollar theater built specifically to house the show, Ulalena is a dazzling and intimate journey that explores the relationships between humanity, nature, and mythology.
Incorporating traditional Hawaiian chants, music, and dancing, the show features some of the Pacific’s most distinguished performers. With beautiful costuming and art direction, has an almost dream-like quality. And like the wind itself, it is refreshing, calming, and pleasantly mysterious.
Ulalena is presented at the Maui Theatre, 878 Front Street, Lahaina, West Maui.
